Improving Lighting While Preserving Trelay’s Charm
We’ve heard you loud and clear: the park needs more lighting to ensure safe and easy navigation after dark. While the improvements we made last winter were warmly received, we understand there’s still work to do. At the same time, we know how much you cherish Trelay’s dark skies and the beautiful stargazing opportunities they provide. That’s why we’ve approached this project with care and consideration.
Last winter, we trialed six solar-powered streetlights around the rock water feature and the entrance to the children’s play area. These lights have been a resounding success, offering the perfect balance of practicality and respect for the environment.
Why Solar Lighting is the Ideal Solution
These innovative lights bring several key benefits to Trelay:
- Environmentally Friendly: Powered entirely by solar energy, they align with our commitment to sustainability.
- Minimised Light Pollution: The lights are designed to shine downward, preserving our stunning night skies.
- Smart Functionality: They operate at 15% brightness as a default, increasing to 100% when motion is detected within 6 meters. This ensures excellent visibility when needed while maintaining a tranquil atmosphere.
Expanding the Solar Lighting Across the Park
We are thrilled to confirm an additional 47 solar-powered lights will be installed across the park in time for the new season starting 1st January 2025. Over time, we’ll also disconnect the remaining mains-powered lights, making Trelay’s street lighting exclusively solar-powered.
To add a touch of elegance, decorative surrounds will be installed around the lights in the coming months, further enhancing their appearance and blending seamlessly with Trelay’s unique style.
