We’re thrilled to unveil a fantastic new feature at Trelay Holiday Park – the Hideaway Bug Hotel! This imaginative and eco-friendly structure was proudly created by the talented children of Pelynt Primary School, in collaboration with the wonderful team at Kelly’s Forest School.
Nestled within our peaceful parkland in the heart of Cornwall, the Hideaway Bug Hotel isn’t just a quirky garden feature – it’s a buzzing hub of biodiversity! Designed to offer a safe haven for a variety of insects and mini-beasts, the hotel is crafted from natural materials and recycled items, providing the perfect environment for beetles, ladybirds, woodlice, solitary bees, and more.
A Hands-On Learning Experience
This project has been a fantastic way to engage young minds with the natural world. Under the guidance of Kelly’s Forest School, the children learned about the important role insects play in our ecosystem – from pollination to pest control – and how we can all do our part to protect them. Then, with plenty of enthusiasm (and muddy boots!), they got hands-on with the construction process, building bug-friendly spaces that are both educational and charming.
Why a Bug Hotel?
Bug hotels are a brilliant way to support local wildlife. Insects are vital for healthy gardens and ecosystems, yet many struggle to find safe places to shelter and nest. Our new Hideaway Bug Hotel helps fill that gap while offering visitors – especially our younger guests – a close-up look at the tiny creatures that keep nature ticking.
Come and Explore!
Whether you’re staying at Trelay or visiting nearby, we invite you to come and discover the Hideaway Bug Hotel. It’s a lovely way to introduce children to nature, spark curiosity, and maybe even inspire some wildlife-friendly projects at home.
This addition perfectly complements the peaceful, nature-focused ethos of Trelay Holiday Park – where luxury meets the wild beauty of Cornwall.
A huge thank you to the children of Pelynt Primary School and the inspiring team at Kelly’s Forest School for making this happen. You’ve created something truly special that our community will enjoy for years to come.
